Durrani repeats demand for separate province

BAHAWALPUR: Senator Muhammad Ali Durrani on Wednesday said that the restoration of the Bahawalpur Development Authority (BDA) would not serve the purpose of the people as they wanted the restoration of provincial status for Bahawalpur.

Addressing a press conference here on Wednesday, Durrani demanded the Punjab government form two more divisions and six districts in the Bahawalpur division to meet the administrative demands of the region.

He felicitated the people on the announcement of a development package worth billions of rupees for the Bahawalpur division. He said the people had achieved it in just two months since the movement for the provincial status for Bahawalpur was launched.

“The development package announced by the chief minister is a right step towards redressing the grievances of the people of the region,” he remarked.
